hoogle for local packages

Having followed this, how does one use hoogle for local packages? I've tried hoogle generate, but it seems to download data from stackage and hackage. Then once the database is generated, it doesn't contain any local package docs

I don't have any experience using that. If you find a solution (I would suggest to ask on https://discourse.nixos.org) I am happy to include it in the tutorial.
