Positioning Question

My goal is to produce a publication for landscape orientation only.

As such, I have been experimenting with creating my graphics sized at 2048 px x 1496 px (which is the full size per Apple's Developer Guidelines). And, they work OK on both the iPad and iPad retina, but they seem to shift to the right.

What can I do, other than cheat (by adding some excess white space on the right to push the graphic to the left to center it) which is what I'm currently doing, to get the graphics to fit correctly?
