Searching for updates does not complete
On new install ,Searching for updates dialog does not complete. A skip option would be better
Same here with latest version v6.2019.310.2906
Checking for updates for the last 2 hours. Dev's, have you heard about a timeout?

It checks for updates towards GitHub, so it should just respond instantly.
Is it working now? Was it a temporary problem?
Also note that Shapeshifter is on pause right now (as stated in README.md) due to lack of funding (but you can donate on Patreon!) and lack of time.

Shapeshifter is currently quite dormant unfortunately. I'm the sole maintainer, doing this for fun, and I have many other open source projects of my making to attend to.
If you'd like to show your support and potentially accelerate the fix of this issue, consider becoming a sponsor on Patreon. That way, you don't actually pay anything unless major updates arrive. And I don't expect them to arrive until quite some time, but if enough people become sponsors, I'll probably start doing this as my main project.
