Get rid of source entirely and switch to 3 lines
If we got rid of the source icon and the source window title for each item and instead made a new source icon on top of the application icon, we could display larger previews for text (3 lines). We should also show larger text that always sizes to fill the full width.
I do not completely understand what you are proposing. Could you create a very small visual concept of it? I would like to know where I copied it from.
I would get rid of the line below each item that contains "(icon) Google Chrome" and instead have a large window icon that I would overlay on top of the item icon.
So for a text item, it would have the text item icon with a smaller Chrome icon overlayed on top of it in the lower right corner.
Kind of how Shapeshifter 5 actually does it.
So the window title would be gone, but you would still see an icon, which would even be larger and more clear.
Is the icon of the window enough for source? To me, that would make things easier to find.
Looks like in Shapeshifter 5 it was the same? I don't know from which version of 5 it is.
I think sometimes you also want to title of the source. From which solution you copied something when it was from Visual Studio, or which document when you copied something from Word.

I do like the current design better. I don't mind that it would get a little bigger, or 1-2px smaller font.
Okay, then you'll have the final say. Do you mind if I try to make a branch with my proposed UI changes to see if I can change your mind with a prerelease, and if I can't, we discard it again?
Hmm well I definitely need context when copy and pasting, maybe there's some more efficient way to do it. The source program icon helps quickly identify what the content might be.
Potentially making the icon the source program etc (instead of the type of file), and then the single detail context line is shown in the action menu? Otherwise I'm fine with it.
Maybe this could be a part of a "Compact Mode" setting? I really like the current UI on my 30" desktop monitors, but a compact UI might be nice for my 13.3" laptop.
And dang Shapeshifter v4 is TBT haha!
