Run a marathon in less than 3 hours
I already ran 40 miles in a single day (see #13). Now I want to run a fast marathon time.
For reference, 3:05 is good enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon in the under 35 age group, so if I meet this goal I'll definitely be registering for that race.
To run a marathon in under 3 hours, I need to run 6:50 per mile.
Why is this goal important:
- It's an amazing feat of physical endurance.
- In order to meet the goal, I'll need to make running a daily habit. Which is a Good Thing.
- I bet my younger brother $500 that I could do this by December 8, 2013, at the California International Marathon.
Did you decide on which marathon to attempt this yet?
I was just going to do it at the CIM in December. But, maybe I should do an earlier one too, so I have two shots at winning the bet?
Think your best chance is probably to peak for one race and focus on that unless you are in really good shape.

Yep, you're right. I'm not in amazing shape right now and I only have ~21 weeks until the race. Best to focus.
