Bug: Google calendar desktop notifications not showing

Expected Behavior
Whenever a reminder is triggered I'm expecting a chime sound and a desktop notification on the desktop environment.
Actual Behavior
When the reminder is triggered, only the sound chime plays.
Steps to reproduce
- Link a google calendar service
- Trigger a reminder over a calendar event

I'm also using the Google Chat service and it has desktop notifications working.
As can be seen here, the google calendar recipe has not been coded for unread counts, notifications, etc. We are looking forward to code contributions for the same.

Hangouts recipe also doesn't have specific code for notifications, yet they work as intended. It all works as expected if I open the application directly in the browser. Tried with chrome and firefox.
Is it something else in the integration?

Please fix this, I moved from Franz, as they have the same issue. Let's do one better than them here!
For anyone wanting a temp work around to this bug, I recommend using Checker Plus for Google Calendar. It's by no means a perfect solution but its a lightweight way of still getting notifications without having to open up google calendar in your browser and you can even have the extension running even if you shut down chrome completely.
Does anyone still encounter this issue?
I use Google Calendar for work and whenever there is a 10min before meeting reminder, Ferdium switches the focus to Google Calendar and shows a popup for me.
