just downloaded it and same on Apple M4 - Sequioa 15.5

Edit: in my case it was because https://ferdium.org/download proposed the wrong version for my mac and I downloaded it (x64 instead of arm64). Once I installed arm64 it was much better!

This is interesting information. I don't remember which version was downloaded, but yes could be the reason for me as well. Not testing it now since I am happy with the older version for now.

I had the same issue, I checked the downloaded version and indeed the wrong version was offered on the website: x64 instead of arm64. I downloaded arm64 and now it works properly.

I just had the same problem. Got a new M4 MBP and when I visited the download page, it suggested I download the x64. After running it and noticing ferdium was wildly slow, I went searching and found this thread and only then did I realize I installed the wrong version. After installing the arm64 version, it's blazing fast. Should probably fix the download link

I just realized that I was experiencing slow performance. After reading, it was indeed also a problem related to a poor download suggestion.

I just came across this now. It's still suggesting the wrong download for ARM mac.
