Multiple Accounts And Multiple Local Accounts

Preflight Checklist

Problem Description

Can only have one account weather it is a local account or a synced account with a Ferdium server.

Would like to have an account for work, an account for home and a local account or two on the device.

Proposed Solution

The ability to have profiles (accounts).

Here is the structure of how it will look in the app

  • Synced Account 1
    • Workspace 1
      • Service 1
      • Service 2
    • Workspace 2
      • Service 3
      • Service 4
  • Synced Account 2
    • Workspace 1
      • Service 1
      • Service 2
    • Workspace 2
      • Service 3
      • Service 4
  • Local Account 1
    • Workspace 1
      • Service 1
      • Service 2
    • Workspace 2
      • Service 3
      • Service 4
  • Local Account 2
    • Workspace 1
      • Service 1
      • Service 2
    • Workspace 2
      • Service 3
      • Service 4

Certain settings will fall under each profile, meaning Profile 1 will have the setting set to one option while it will be different in Profile 2. Only settings that are global across the app are settings that effect the entire app such as the General settings.

This is actually pretty interesting, thank you for raising this feature request!

Tho, with the current code state I think it might be a bit hard to achieve this... Given the major refactor that is probably needed for everything to work.

Nevertheless, as always, we are really welcomed for contributions! 😁

Do you mean Ferdium currently supports logging in to one account per service? Example: I have 2 WhatsApp numbers, one personal and one WA Business, and I can't log in for both accounts simultaneously except to keep logging in and out of each other even though I am already creating different workspaces. Is that what you mean?

Well, if it is your case, try this workaround:

  1. After adding your first service (your Personal account), go to edit the service, scroll down, and notice the User-Agent string; I think in most cases, the default is Chrome (indicated at the end of the User Agent string)
  2. Add your second service as your first one, making sure to give a different name and/or icon to distinguish it. Example: Whatsapp Business
  3. Fill your User Agent with a different string from the default one, such as Firefox, open https://whatmyuseragent.com/ using your Firefox browser, copy the user agent, and paste it into your second service (your work account).
  4. Save service and Enjoy
