Ferdium Version

6.2.6

What Operating System are you using?

Tested on Ubuntu 22.04 & Fedora 38

Operating System Version

Ubuntu 22.04

What arch are you using?

x64

Last Known Working Ferdium version

I didn't find Ferdium version which is not affected by this bug.

Expected Behavior

Notifications removed from a Message Tray after user interacts with Ferdium

Actual Behavior

Notifications remain on a Message Tray until user clear them manually

Steps to reproduce

  1. Focus on desktop or some other application
  2. Receive notification on Ferdium
  3. Inside Ferdium window interact with a service which generated notification
  4. Check whether "unread notification" are still on a system Message Tray

Additional information

Nowadays most Linux Desktop Environments have Notifications History (Message Tray) where user can find unread messages. Typically when user interacts with application which received message that message gets deleted from Message Tray. That happens with most applications which use system notifications (e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Electron apps) but with Ferdium such messages not to be cleared manually. That's very confusing especially on GNOME with extensions which use Message Tray to bring user's attention to notifications ( e.g. clock flashing with Notification Alert or numbers beside clock with Notification Counter).

I've a got a video on original Ubuntu 22.04 (without aforementioned extensions).

Do you get the same behaviour with Google Chat on Chrome, or does it clear the notifications as you expect?

As you can see from the video above (0:55) "Google Chat" (which is a Google Chrome PWA) notification gets cleared from a Message Tray when I interact with application's window. On a video I click inside a window but normally notification disappear when I activate window (e.g. click on a Dash/Dock/Panel application icon).

Same issue on Ubuntu 24.04 (snap intallation, both stable and nightly builds, currently using the 7.1.1-nightly.6 build). The problem is that you never know if you actually have notifications or if the badge is related to old ones you already opened, very disturbing.
