Hangs on "Loading emulator dependencies" when files are in the macintosh.js folder
I have LUbuntu 20.04 with macintosh.js and it works fine initially. My interest in this software is to access and use programs and files on a drive I pulled out of an old Mac. If I created a symbolic link from the MAC drive to the macintosh.js folder or simply copy all of the files to that folder, "Loading emulator dependencies" hangs at about 85%. So I deleted everything and started small:
- Created a file called "you are here" as the only file in macintosh.js folder - Boots successfully and sees the file
- Copied a Claris Works folder to macintosh.js. - Boots successfully and sees the file but couldn't run Claris Works.
- Copied Microsoft 98 folder to macintosh.js - Hangs at 99% on "loading emulation dependencies". Been there for about 15 minutes so far.
So a couple of questions:
- Is there a limitation on the number of files I can put in the macintosh.js folder?
- Where do I find the logs (I looked in the .config folder but didnt see much)?
- Will it even be possible for me to run applications like Word and Claris in this emulator just by putting them in the macintosh.js folder?
Thanks.
Additional note, it seems that file type is an issue rather than just number of files. I had downloaded a MACOS 8 version of the file type app to see if I could get my Claris working but just with that folder in the macintosh.js folder, it failed to fully boot
I have the same problem but on the latest build of Windows 11
