mac support issue

Open JGLEEJG2 opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

It was made clear that BLPData is for Bloomberg Professional user. It also said it supports mac. However, there is no native version of Bloomberg Professional. I can see conflicts.

I can use Bloomberg Anywhere and BLPdata session not working.

Anyone has solution for this quandary?

I have never tried this package on macOS or Linux, given that I only have access to Desktop API, which looks like it's Windows only.

Please, refer to https://www.bloomberg.com/professional/support/api-library/, regarding macOS and Linux:

""" These Bloomberg API libraries cannot be used by Bloomberg Professional terminal users (which use the Desktop API). They are only compatible with the Bloomberg Server API and B-Pipe data feed products. """

Linux and Mac are not supported, because Bloomberg professional is only for Windows and BLPData is not working without Bloomberg Professional. So that your support of mac and linux is misleading. it should be said as only Windows is supported for this package.

@JGLEEJG2 , please, refer to https://www.bloomberg.com/professional/support/api-library/. There are other products beyond the Desktop API (Server API and B-Pipe), which support Linux and macOS.

I'll update the docs regarding this. Thanks for your input!
