Guide difficult to understand

I am not sure I understand the guide. In your additional instructions for MacOS you say: "Open Unlimited Hotspot’s "macOS" folder in Finder."

Are we supposed to download "Unlimited Hotspot" on the Mac? There is no link to the releases page. You don't mention downloading Unlimited Hotspot for the Mac. All you mentioned is "download SpoofDPI". Also, if you want to use your Android phone as a hotspot, do you need to download anything on the Mac? PowerTunnel by itself does not work - the hotspot usage is instantly detected by T-Mobile. Also, I assume we are talking about wireless hotspot, not USB.

Thanks.

The instructions should be more clear now regarding macOS. The "hotspot" is assumed either wireless, or wired via USB; it applies to both.

You still have to download an anti-DPI application for your Mac when using an Android device for the hotspot. PowerTunnel for Android is to bypass DPI for Android devices, you have to install that on every Android device you use, and the same goes for the macOS instructions for macOS devices.

Thanks! Do we ever run SpoofDPI directly on the Mac, or it just needs to be installed? Also, does Power Tunnel need to be run in VPN or proxy mode?

On the Mac you install SpoofDPI https://github.com/xvzc/SpoofDPI#curl -> then you run it -> https://github.com/xvzc/SpoofDPI#osx

PowerTunnel you run in VPN mode, so I'll add a note about that too.

All right, thanks a bunch!

P.S. Unfortunately, no luck - everything detected again.

What I did:

  1. Installed PowerTunnel and run it in VPN mode with "Always on" and "Block connections without VPN" options enabled.
  2. Installed SpoofDPI.
  3. Downloaded Unlimited Hotspot and configured according to instructions.
  4. Turned on SpoofDPI. It returned: FATA (date & hour) exit status 14
  5. I must note I also use Viscosity and Little Snitch on my Mac, maybe there is conflict somewhere. 7.Have qBittorrent configured to only work over VPN interface. Result - T-Mobile detected hotspot usage.

I would try using PowerTunnel, which I put instructions for very recently here: https://github.com/felikcat/unlimited-hotspot#2-moving-past-throttling

I've noticed that SpoofDPI has issues with certain websites for my own usage, like for OpenWrt LuCI, and I don't use any external firewall applications. PowerTunnel also has more protections against DPI than SpoofDPI currently.
