Description

When recording an iPhone or iPad screen via QuickTime's "New Movie Recording" feature, rotating the iOS device immediately terminates the recording. All captured footage is lost—no file is saved, no recovery option is presented.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Connect an iOS device to the Mac via USB
  2. Open QuickTime Player
  3. Choose File > New Movie Recording
  4. Select the iOS device as the camera source
  5. Click the record button
  6. Rotate the iOS device from portrait to landscape (or vice versa)

Expected Behavior: Either:

  • Recording continues, handling the resolution change gracefully (letterboxing, or starting a new chapter/segment)
  • Recording stops gracefully and saves the footage captured so far

Actual Behavior: Recording immediately terminates. No file is saved. No warning is shown before or after. Minutes of footage can be lost.
