F43 time-based transition is broken (again)
Today at 19:03, using the time-based version of the default wallpaper on Fedora 43, my wallpaper suddenly went from light to completely dark.
The last time this happened, the issue was fixed and a Python script was added to the repository that recursively scans for *.png files and checks each one for the presence of an alpha channel. See https://github.com/fedoradesign/backgrounds/issues/67. Since the Fedora wallpaper file format is now JPEG XL, this script no longer works. I am not sure if the cause of the current issue is the presence of an alpha channel in the wallpaper files and I do not currently have the appropriate software installed to confirm this.
The files contain an alpha channel, so I removed it and replaced the files in the appropriate directory, but unfortunately the transition still doesn't work as expected.
Does it still happen on the current version?
It seems to be fixed now, thanks!
Unfortunately, I spoke too soon.
The update f43-backgrounds-43.0.2-1.fc43 returns the error No advisory found matching the requested name: "FEDORA-2025-d9c32606ef", so I installed f43-backgrounds-base-43.0.2-1.fc43.noarch.rpm and f43-backgrounds-gnome-43.0.2-1.fc43.noarch.rpm. I then tested by setting the clock manually, but it seems I didn't wait long enough and everything seemed fine. Now that it's around 19:45 local time, I realized that the transactions are still broken.
@hrismarin The new release removed transparency addressing the issue related to animation. Let know if the fix works on your side.
