Integrate with fedocal to better classify meetings
Fedocal lists when meetings are scheduled. If mote was aware of the fedocal schedule it could make a fairly educated guess about what group the meeting was for. This would allow for better search for meetings as you wouldn't have so many similar group names littering the name space.
Although it would be possible to integrate with Fedocal, are all meetings available within Fedocal? How complete is the data?
It sounds like you're suggesting that we scrap the current naming system in favour of names matched from Fedocal. mote handles archive data dating back many years; I'm not sure how smooth the data would be if we substituted the current naming conventions with Fedocal data.
We're currently looking into developing some kind of alias system that could alias different groups into one category for viewing on mote, but I have been busy and haven't been able to work on it recently. Perhaps that's a better idea for backwards compatibility and more reliable data going forward. Ensure that meeting chairs are aware of how to correctly set the meeting name so that there aren't different group names for the same group.

I do not want to see the current naming system scrapped and I think aliases sound like a good idea. I am suggesting that using fedocal will add one more piece of metadata for some meetings and could make building things like the browse page easier.
