UI improvements
- [x] Separate dialog to edit plugin settings (instead of relying on panel context menu). Needed to be able to edit non-trivial settings, i.e. keyboard shortcuts.
- [x] Keyboard shortcuts.
- [ ] Export current configuration as a template, which can then be loaded to quickly setup export targets for another file (see comment).
- [ ] Color code export targets based on Photoshop group color (see comment).
- [ ] Visually warn user if export settings are wrong
- [ ] Ability to reorder export targets.
- [ ] Ability to drag and drop layers inside the export target instead of having to search for them using the dropdown list.
- [ ] Ability to specify a password for Photoshop Remote Server.
- [x] Add first-time wizard to instruct users about how to enable Photoshop Remote Server. Find out if there's a way to enable it automatically (through ExtendScript?).
- [ ] Support navigation using arrow keys on core-combobox.
- [ ] Keyboard shortcut to export the target(s) corresponding to the currently selected layer.
the keyboard shortcuts is very important, i want to know is this still keep develop?i use the qsm before, but qsm have some bug when i export the tga format. so i change to use your script.
after one hour try,i must say it is very nice script for 3d artist. huge thanks man!!!look forward new ver!
Glad you found the plugin useful! 😄 Yes, it’s still under development and keyboard shortcuts are high on the todo list, although I don’t have an ETA at this time as other projects are eating most of my time.
I’ll make sure to drop a message here once the feature is implemented!
Hello Francesco! I'm glad this is finally a thing in CC! I used to use QSM a long time ago and have wanted to have something similar for years. I discovered Expresso a while ago but whatever version of CC we had at that time wasn't supported. Glad I finally checked back. I think overall what you have is a great start - I'd like to make a few requests.
I see hotkeys is already on your list - this is a big one. Being able to hotkey export all and export single is definitely something the community wants/will want. If not them, then I sure do!
I'd also like the ability to store configurations. When I used QSM I had a photoshop action that would set up my psd and in the config I had the group names set so at the stroke of a key all my maps were exported but there wasn't a setup required each time. Being able to make, store, and share configurations of maps linked to group names would be terrific. Otherwise the potential quality of life and time savings of something like this somewhat goes away because you have to set it up again each time. If possible, it would also be cool to be able to colorize an element of the export window for each channel (I I color coded groups/layers in my photoshop action) - matching those up would be sweet. That's not important related to the above, but if its easy to add that would be a nice addition to this feature and configurations overall.
Thanks Francesco, hoping to see more and if some of these things can be developed perhaps we can get a little money your way.
Hello Cliff, thanks for the suggestions! Support for keyboard shortcuts is slowly coming together:
There's only one last problem left that I need to deal with before I can roll out a new version. Hope to have it solved soon.
As per the configuration loading/saving: this is a very good idea, and I definitely see how it could be useful. Color coded export targets also sound good. I'll add them to the list at the top and give them some more thought, although I can't provide a reliable time frame for them.
Hello Francesco, that's great news! Thank you - if I might suggest from what the image seems to indicate - is it possible to add a Export "selected"? That way you aren't enabling and disabling things again and again if you just want to do one or two in a specific time. Just a thought.
Happy to hear that you are open to these things and I want to thank you for making this tool. I may contribute towards it in the future some or see if I can get my company to do a little - though I think it will need those features first for it to be of any real help to us at the moment and going forward, so i'm looking forward to seeing how that works out! Is there a way I can be notified of updates to this going forward?

You're welcome! As a user of the plugin myself, keyboard shortcuts is something I wanted since forever. 😄
With "selected" you mean to export all the groups you have selected in the layers panel? This is something I've never considered, as I found enabling/disabling the targets to be quicker than selecting the layer groups - especially when working on complex PSDs. I'm also hesitant about introducing another export path in addition to the ones that are already there... Maybe this is something better suited to be discussed over in the Polycount thread? If there's enough interest, I'm going to take a closer look at it.

Hello Franceso, apologies for the late reply.
I spoke a bit too soon I think, presuming you could "select" export targets in the plugin window, which doesn't seem to be the case. You can check or uncheck them, but not actually select them as a thing. Is this a limitation that comes from how things have to be put together, or would it be possible for them to be selectable, as a layer is in photoshop. If that's the case, then my earlier comment would hold. If its not, then you are right of course.

Hi @fcamarlinghi.
I'm also trying to find solution for "Ability to specify a password for Photoshop Remote Server." I see you've hardcoded login/pass for Ps server too.
I found node-keytar pakage that allows to store credentials in OS vault system (Keychain, Credential Vault). But it is wtitten as node native module so is not very suitable at least in my case. Later I found another package https://github.com/zetlen/clortho that works as regular module. And also there is an updated fork (without UI prompts + ts) https://www.npmjs.com/package/clortho-lite
Let me know if you find this useful.
BTW: Have you figured how to fix "Find out if there's a way to enable it automatically (through ExtendScript?)." ?
Hey! Thanks for sharing this, it definitely looks like a good solution to let users specify their own passwords.
Unfortunately I never found a way to programmatically enable Photoshop Server and recently gave up trying after reading that Adobe plans to introduce a new extensibility model. My hope is that the new plugin system will solve all the current CEP/ExtendScript limitations and allow me to drop Photoshop Server completely.
