Feature request: article to article navigation

Open infeeeee opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

Thank you for this client, much nicer and more responsive than the official!

I only miss one thing, article to article navigation. Currently if I tap on an article, I have to go back to the list and tap on the next article. What I want is if I am on the article screen I can go to the next article without going back to the list. In the official app you can change to the next article by swiping left/right, with buttons on the bottom of the screen, or with the volume buttons. I would be very happy if any of them was implemented.

If I miss something and it's already possible some way in the app, sorry.

Thank you again, I hope it's not a big work to implement this.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I had this implemented in an (very) early version of the application, and I decided to remove it for a couple of reasons :

  • I was annoyed by the fact that it's not easy to know on what article you are going to be after swiping. I favored a more intentional navigation
  • the code gets much simpler without this feature

I'm open to reconsider if there is a really high demand for it, but I think it's not that annoying to have to go back first.

Well, obviously workflows are different :-)

I fully second the request by infeeeee, for me swiping through the articles is the only way I ever use in the official app to skip through unread articles and if anything, I see the headlines view as superfluous clutter.

It would be really nice to have that feature back in your otherwise simplistic, but nice working app! Thank you!

I don't mean to necrobump, but I'd like to voice my support for this feature as well. It would at least be nice to have the option to enable or disable it as needed (considering the different workflows of people).
