overlay creates blank dummy window

• OS version and name: Pop!_os 18.04 LTS (based on Ubuntu)
• Hyper.app version: 2.1.2

On starting the first hyper window, a blank dummy window pops up and obscures my view. I've determined it is hyper-overlay by process of elimination, although the window does not respond to dev-tools key bindings.
