linking contacts to contacts

Would be great to be able to make associations between contacts. Eg. Joe Bloggs is Jill Bloggs boss

Usually a boss relationship could be expressed in terms of titles under an account. If it is expressed as a relationship between two people then every combination of contacts under an account would need to be mapped. Perhaps a specific use case would help clarify the requirement?
