Automatically start listening to a meeting when it begins
Problem
Users frequently forget to start or stop recordings for their meetings.
This happens in two main scenarios:
- When they join or create meetings ad-hoc without preparation.
- When they have scheduled meetings but forget to hit record when it starts.
Overall, users miss important meeting notes because they don’t remember to manage recording manually.
Solution
- When a meeting is created or joined ad-hoc:
- Show a push notification like “Are you in a meeting?” to remind the user to start recording.
- Optionally start recording automatically if mic or conferencing app activity is detected.
- Automatically pause or stop recording when the user exits the meeting app.
- For scheduled meetings about to begin:
- Show a push notification like “Meeting is about to begin!” shortly before start time.
- Automatically start recording when the meeting time begins (can be configurable to respect visibility/focus of the meeting window).
- General automation:
- Support auto-start and auto-stop recording based on conferencing app detection (similar to Shadow’s approach).
- Allow users to configure whether auto-recording triggers only when the meeting window is visible or always.
