Connecting multiple input to an output
Hi.
I'm not sure what is happening here, but I hear a strange effect when connecting to the same stereo output both a mono microphone input and a stereo synthesizer input. I do hear both sources, but the synth becomes flat - maybe it's remixed in mono because the other input is mono? I do hear it on both channels, though. In addition, if I only connect the microphone to one of the channels, then the synth sound doesn't degrade, though I then hear the mic just in that channel I've routed it to.
Using a mixer works well, as expected.
My question is, whether it is a generally supported setup of multiple inputs to the same outputs? what should be the considerations here?
After further playing with this I've noticed that, indeed, routing the same (mono) input to two outputs (one stereo output) will "flatten" all other stereo signals that are connected to the same outputs.
However, I've also noticed the same kind of degrade of a stereo signal when interconnecting two stereo sources to two stereo sinks, each. That is, a stereo mic and a stereo synth were both connected to a line out and headphones. The moment I route the final channel in the setup, the quality of the synth degrades to mono - it's hard to say whether the mic is degrading as well. If I disconnect any of the 8 lines in the setup the sound goes back to normal
does this happen only when connecting to the output hardware group/box, or if you use a plugin in the middle it also happens there? (say, the plugin connects its 2 outs to 2 separate output ports, but this plugin is receiving signal from a mono source).
Since this might be a tricky one to fix, I am not trying to fix it now so close to release. Nice find though.
Sorry for the delay. I was actually trying to reproduce it in a reduced and controlled environment but couldn't find a stable scenario with minimal overhead. Should I keep trying, or have you been able to see it happen and essentially have all the needed input?

Hello. Can't reproduce it with Carla 2.4.2 and 2.6.0-alpha1. Is it still an issue, or can be closed now?
