Looks like 3.8 is breaking somewhere in isoalte-cloud, looking around...

After wasting some time on this, turns out there are issues with 3.8 specifically and some mix of fastapi/pydantic and pickling. Was not able to get to the bottom of it in the meaningful amount of time and considering that 3.8 is near EOL we should just close this PR and fix 3.8 issues as they come up in real world.
