Patch worked fine for a while, is now spotty.
I installed it a few days ago. It was great for a few days but it's been stopping working randomly, so I'm left with no scroll, or with all my clicks being read as middle clicks, or no right mouse button. I'm not sure what information I can offer to be helpful other than I'm on an X240, running Ubuntu 16.04, and I ran the libinput-disable-touchpad-movements.sh script. Whatever information you need to know, just ask and I'll try to get it for you :)
Hi Claire,
Was the patched installation package overwritten by some update? You could use dpkg -l | grep libinput to check which version is installed.
An approach that might help in diagnosing the problem is to check and record the properties of your TrackPad when it is working and also check and record the properties of your TrackPad when it stops working. This way you could figure out if something on your system is re-configuring the TrackPad at random times.
The command xinput list gives you an overview of the different devices. Look for the id of a device name containing TrackPad or something similar.
You can view the properties of your TrackPad using xinput list-props 10 where 10 would be the device ID.
Hope this helps. It seems like a problem that's tough to identify.
Thank you, I'll give it a shot and report back.
Okay, finally caught it in the act of not working (as I type this all my clicks are middle clicks).
diff ~/tmp/touchpad-working ~/tmp/touchpad-all-middle
returned no differences between the two files.
Although a few minutes later it's gone back to normal...
That's strange. Is there some pattern when this occurs? Does it happen when you use certain applications? How long does it typically take until everything is back to normal?
