Monochrome terminal inspired theme

Here one would create a TUI (Terminal UI) to be shown in a simulated monochrome terminal.

A mockup has been created below using vim and cool-retro-term.

It's important that the text is rendered slowly to create that 9600 baud feel.

I see several ways rendering the terminal.

  • With css
  • With canvas and javascript

Using css, one gets all the text selection and screenreader stuff built into the browser. However this requires a lot more work to make convincing.

I think that with some effort, one can get a very nice looking terminal with canvas rendering.

Some links that are interesting:

Can i assign myself to this issue?

I've assigned it to you.

The screenshot looks awesome! Looking forward to seeing it implemented.

Yesterday, I setup our Razzia machine with cool-retro-term and stregsystemet-cli to stand beside our ordinary stregsystem-client.

I still think we should have a web-based edition of this, especially since the 9600 baud feel is missing

Ahh nice. I don't think we can compete with cool retro term, tho. But we can probably replicate some of the effects.

I still think it's worthwhile to make this feature for an easter-egg in the ordinary front-end, although an eventual implementation might depend on #261
