Adding this environment variable set to 1, this allows convert to run successfully

I like the pull request. As soon as you can fix the various remarks, we'll happily pull it in.

A side remark: remember that it is much more convenient to create those pull requests from a branch on your fork. It will allow you to work on other changes at the same time without disrupting the pull request, should it happen that fixes are requested.
