@N-R-K thanks for pointing this out in chat, imlib2 depends on libwebp https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/imlib2/ So technically needing libwebp for animated webp support isn't an additional dependency...

Freebsd has libwebp as a dependency for imlib2, netbsd doesn't, salix packages a version of imlib2 from before webp support was added into upstream
