Unable to scan "special" folders

Open adelphiaUK opened this issue 11 months ago • 5 comments

I'm a new user of your add-on and I noticed it doesn't support scanning of special folders. I have the majority of my duplicates in my sent folders (no idea why) so it would be handy to be able to scan those folders too.

Also, as I haven't delved too much into this add-on yet, does it facilitate cross-account scanning as when I clicked the "Set original folder(s)..." context menu item, nothing happened; not even a check mark on the context menu so when I use the context menu again, over the same folder, it would indicate if that folder is selected or not. Right now, I have no idea if a folder is actually marked/set or not.

Keep up the good work. I'll be donating once it does some, not necessarily all, of what I need.

Cheers adelphiaUK (Chris)

For special folders, have you tried adjusting the configuration? In the settings, there's a tab at the top for "general settings" and by default "Skip Special Folders" is disabled. Turn this off to enable scanning in special folders.

I don't think cross-account scanning is possible due to another issue (if you select multiple folders the add-on disappears until you restart Thunderbird).

I must have missed that setting, but I'm not too clever anymore when it comes to reading or writing

Oh. I hadn't noticed, but I sure I will now!

Further to my comments above, I have unchecked the "Skip Special Folders" box under "General" in the configuration, set "Sent" as the "Set original message folder(s) ..." and then clicked "Remove Duplicates" in the context menu and then I get a "Not searching special folders" dialog popup. So, although I've told it to include special folders, it doesn't; unless I'm doing something wrong again!

For personal reasons, and reasons involving the situation in Palestine, I will likely not be able to find the time to work on removedupes for the next couple of months at least. I apologize, but - that's just the reality. Please poke me again after that.

Not a problem at all. I hope things work out OK and there's no need for apologies. Will remind you again in the new year!
