Is Synthetic testset generation only possible through knowledge graph generation or is it possible to generate dataset without Knowledge graph as well?

[ ] I checked the documentation and related resources and couldn't find an answer to my question.

My question is: Is it a possibility to generate Synthetic testset without knowledge graph generation? Reason is KG generation is complex and time consuming, it would be nice to know if we can skip this process and generate straightforward questions just by looking at the document?

If I'm not wrong, the earlier ragas had this way of generating synthetic dataset(without using Knowledge graph).
