Upstream contributions from exo-extended fork (ongoing PR)

This pull request is intended as a common contribution point for updates made in the exo-extended fork.

• Added a disclaimer in the README explaining the fork’s purpose, maintenance intent, and lack of warranty or ownership claims.

• This PR will be updated incrementally as further improvements are made in the fork.
• All contributions are submitted in good faith with the hope they can be reintegrated upstream.
• Suggestions or requested changes are welcome at any point.

I deleted my fork as there did not appear to be any interest in the project. If there is interest I would be open to starting a community fork.
