Discussion - supply GIVEN DATA pre-initialized to students
Looking at the Space Age exercise (so only a narrow perspective) I'm considering (at least in some cases) it would might be a good idea to provide GIVEN DATA to students pre-initialized. This may give a few benefits:
- help give students with momentum. copy-pasting data is not really a skill we need them to practice
- mistakes transposing given data can be frustrating and off topic
- students learn from the initialization examples we provide
I think there are future exercises that have data files - and we still need a decent solution for that (I think the cli version pulls those files down - not sure if our https retriever does?).
If it does pull them down, then we can provide a menu item to easily see them (in fact doesn't spotter do it already?).
For Space Age specifically - I think the idea there is that we don't want students to learn about dictionaries and static array syntax etc - so maybe we don't want to give it to them pre-typed and pre-suppose a solution?
