When widget search for updates panel becomes unresponsive

When the widget searches for updates the panel becomes unresponsive for user inputs. So if it searches for updates and want to open an application launcher widget, the widget doesn't register the input until apdatifier finishes. Widgets that doesn't require user input (like digital clock) still works fine but if it requires an user input it doesn't work until apdatifier finishes.

Aside from what @CcMenta described for me this widget sometimes causes the whole system to freeze when it searches for updates. It happens more frequently when gaming.
