Crash with the special build today: https://gist.github.com/FlorinAndrei/fdaaa7f1db7aa47789ad298b44438903

please try this one:

Stats.dmg.zip

In case there still will be a crash - please try to disable one module per time and notice when the app will stops crashing.

exelban avatar Jun 17 '25 14:06 exelban

It took me a while to systematically try each module, but finally I did it. Here are the results:

I got crashes, and quite often (about once a day, or even twice a day), when disabling any of these modules:

  • CPU
  • GPU
  • RAM
  • Disk

I've disabled the Network module several days ago (4...5 days maybe), and I have not seen a crash so far. I wish I could continue the experiment a while longer, to make it more relevant, but I will not use this laptop for the next 2 weeks, and I will not be able to respond to this ticket until after 2 weeks.

It seems like disabling the Network module prevents the crashes. The confidence level is not super high.

I don't know if you've tried this, but I have Docker Desktop installed here, I run some containers occasionally, I build Docker images, etc. DD has a local network that it creates. DD also goes to sleep after some minutes of inactivity. I don't know if Stats gets in trouble because of the Docker network changes, but it might be worth trying.

I will look again at this ticket in about 2 weeks.

Cheers!

I came back from vacation 1 week ago. This whole week (plus 5 days before vacation) Stats has run with the Network module disabled. Not a single crash this whole time.

I am going to re-enable Network now, since I need it anyway.

Hi, thx. Ok, so looks like still something in the network. The last time there was a line chart widget. Could you check if it's still this widget causes crash by disabling it for network?

exelban avatar Aug 02 '25 12:08 exelban

Okay, I kept the Network module enabled, but I moved the chart widget to the right of the vertical bar in settings, disabling it. I only see NET now but I don't see any chart there. I hope that's what you want.

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 04 '25 16:08 FlorinAndrei

yeap, it will disable widget. Please give me to know if that will prevent crash

exelban avatar Aug 04 '25 19:08 exelban

It crashed today. The Network module enabled, but the chart widget was disabled. It looks like it's not the chart, but maybe the module itself.

I will re-enable the chart now.

Anything else to try?

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 07 '25 01:08 FlorinAndrei

could you please share the last crash report?

exelban avatar Aug 07 '25 06:08 exelban

Yeah, here it is: https://gist.github.com/FlorinAndrei/d8c84096a00c813ed836b28f40231550

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 07 '25 17:08 FlorinAndrei

oh, I cannot decode this build report( could you please run the latest release and send a crash report from that?

exelban avatar Aug 07 '25 17:08 exelban

I am now running v2.11.49

The Network module is enabled, the Network chart widget is disabled, as before, when it last crashed. Let's see what happens.

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 07 '25 18:08 FlorinAndrei

No crash in 1 week with v2.11.49

I've re-enabled the Network chart widget.

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 14 '25 18:08 FlorinAndrei

I take that back. There was a crash in the past 7 days. In the Console, I've noticed a crash from 2 days ago, with v2.11.49 and the Network chart widget disabled. Here is the report:

https://gist.github.com/FlorinAndrei/8b3f7715a4a1ae9d20c5f10a50ff259d

And then today, pretty soon after enabling the Network chart widget, it crashed again. Here is the report:

https://gist.github.com/FlorinAndrei/60b59a1a5b31800d6b3ebd9422caf9d5

I will keep the Network chart widget enabled, because I need it.

If you want more data, maybe create a build with debugging turned on, or something?

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 14 '25 23:08 FlorinAndrei

both these crash report crashed in the network widget. So it must be active in both cases

exelban avatar Aug 15 '25 09:08 exelban

hmm, just out of curiosity please run this build:

Stats.dmg.zip

after you run it go to the widget settings and change the charts history to some other value.

exelban avatar Aug 15 '25 09:08 exelban

change the charts history to some other value

Is that the setting called "Number of reads in the chart"?

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 15 '25 16:08 FlorinAndrei

yes

ok, here is the last build:

Stats.dmg.zip

In case it still causes a crash, I must give up since I have no idea what it is caused by. I think the only way to determine that is to run a Stats in Xcode by you, since I cannot reproduce that bug. I would really like to help, but I don't see any further places that can cause the crash(

PS: but in case there still be a crash please share the crash report since it could be caused by another reason mb.

exelban avatar Aug 17 '25 10:08 exelban

using the latest special build

FlorinAndrei avatar Aug 20 '25 02:08 FlorinAndrei

hi. Sorry, but I'm already out of ideas what could possibly cause the crash. The only way to find that is to run Stats from Xcode, and it will tell you the problem point.

exelban avatar Aug 24 '25 11:08 exelban

please ping me in case someone will have the same issue and could run Stats in Xcode to debug that.
