I was here for the same reason. Note the highlight at the top of the repo's readme:

This repository is not actively maintained. Use sphinx-design instead! See the migration guide and https://github.com/executablebooks/sphinx-design/issues/51 for more information.

I already migrated to sphinx-design and it was easy.
