HOWTO: pdf output styling

Open stefanseefeld opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Is there any place with information (including example jupterbooks) about how to customize the pdf output ? In particular, I'm interested in:

  • titlepage configuration (adding / suppressing document info, layout and styling fine-tuning, etc.)
  • page template fine-tuning, i.e. custom heading & footers

I'm presently using the pdflatex builder to generate a document from a collection of notebooks, but our company's doc control demands some formatting that I'm trying to meet. Any help would be much appreciated !

My recommendation would be to try out the new build engine that's being developed at https://mystmd.org, and will be the document engine for Jupyter Book 2.0 (out in alpha now). One of the goals for the new MyST engine is to make it easier to render MyST documents into different output formats, with more control over their structure and design.

For example, here's the documentation about PDF outputs with the MyST engine. There's also the myst-templates github organization that has template examples for many kinds of PDF outputs.
