Need more information in the documentation guide for the section Custom CSS or JavaScript

Context

I was trying to make a simple customization: I want the content column wider relative to the left and right panels, and also to make the entire page width larger.

However, there are no details at all in the documentation on how to accomplish this. I put an issue in Discussions but it is unanswered.

I have also posted a question on SO about this.

Proposal

An example in the documentation of a similar kind of customization would be most helpful.
