@Javagedes It won't do anything. `^` can appear anywhere in the RE. The bug, however, affects only non-anchored matches. Also, `re.search` in this application is like 100% slower than `re.match()`...

Yes, I had. I ran it on ClickHouse source code with all submodules recursively synced. It showed about 5% improvement. But you have to reproduce it yourself to be 100%...
