Unable to apply/submit solution for bounty as a developer
Description
I signed up on beginnerbounties.com as a developer and wanted to work on this bounty: https://beginnerbounties.com/bounties/23
However, I couldn’t find any option to apply for the bounty or to submit my solution.
Instead, the platform only shows me an option to “Post a bounty,” which looks more like a creator workflow.
Steps I Tried
- Signed up with a new account as a developer.
- Visited the bounty page.
- Looked for any “Apply,” “Submit,” or “Claim bounty” button.
- Only option available is to post a new bounty, not to contribute to the existing one.
Expected Behavior
As a developer, I expected to see an option to apply for or submit my solution to the bounty.
Notes
- Maybe I selected the wrong account type? If so, clearer guidance during signup could help.
- If the feature isn’t built yet, happy to test when it’s ready.
- For context, I was trying to solve the 'Rails Guides navigation bug ($50) posted by Amanda Perino' bounty.
Additional Observation
I also noticed that there is no email verification after signup.
This could allow fake or spam accounts, which might be risky for a platform handling financial transactions (bounties/payouts).
Suggest adding at least a simple confirmation email step.
The intention is you apply on the link the bounty owner submitted (like a GitHub issue) and the bounty owner updates the listing when they have chosen someone. Only people posting bounties need to register.
Trying to keep it simple for now since nobody really uses it and we don't need to overcomplicate it.
I like the idea of having an "Apply" button and submitting a form of why you want to work on the project and then the Bounty owner can select the person and assign them to the bounty. Seems like it'd clear up a lot by having that.
