Error mounting card. press REC. to retry
Hi everybody,
I have a GoPro 4 Black, and after reparing it it lost its firmware.
So I downloaded and installed the drivers for the Hero 4, then connected the GoPro to my laptop while holding the shutter button. It got recognized as unknown device. I then ran the recovery_win file and got to the part where it would start the SD card but then the screen says:
Error mounting card. press REC. to retry
Did that: retrying.... preparing card... and again error mounting card. pres REC to retry
Any solution to this issue?
Hello. What size is your card, and how is the card fomatted?
Due to filesystem limitations (and silly licensing nonsense), you MUST use a card formatted with the FAT (well, FAT32) filesystems. Larger cards (>32GB) tend to be formatted with exFAT, which cannot be read by the camera when running in Linux-based recovery mode.
It is also possible that your card is "weird" in terms of the signalling modes or voltages it can support. Since I don't have a PMIC driver in Linux, we are stuck with the default signalling modes.
Regardless of which actual cause you are experiencing, I suggest trying a different card. You can leave the camera on and keep swapping cards until one works. I've got a few cards at home that don't work with recovery mode, but most of mine do. You might have just been unlucky.
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have tried with different cards. It got to the moment where it says: flashing root wait then Flashing complete! Please reboot me :) After that I have tried to reboot it, nothing happens. I have repeated the process a couple of times, also by using different cards; the response is always the same. The camera still won't reboot, matter of fact it does not respond at all to input (nothing appears on the screen, no light turns on, the laptop does not recognize it, the camera keeps on connecting and disconnecting when plugged into the computer....
so this is what i did:
- hold rec. button 5 second and plug it in to the computer to keep it recognized, without it disconnect it over and over again.
- run the file saying recovery_win
- Stuck a Sd card in containing the H4 Recovery.tgz
- it says process complete something like that and then go pro screen says
- its flashing some stuff
- Flashing complete. Reboot me now :)
- cant get it to reboot
- tried to hard reset it as well one time after it saying reboot me now; Nothing seems to happen, camera does not work Have to redo the process over
btw te first card was a 64 gb so thats why it did not work the first time
second time with a 4GB and an 8GB -->process described above
Hi there,
is there any solution to the above mentioned problem? Please let me know. Thank you
Hola, gracias por tu respuesta.
He probado con diferentes tarjetas.
