[Feature Request] Remove use of deprecated notify2 package

Dear maintainer,

I encountered issue #906 and have submitted a request downstream to try to get the distribution to update their outdated version of the python3-notify2 package so this issue is fixed for other users. However, the notify2 package itself was officially discontinued by its author several years ago and will not receive any future future bug fixes or updates. They suggest several alternatives in their documentation. Please consider switching to one of the documented alternatives.
