Content does not get placed into data-pjax-container after pjax request

There are a few weird things happening when I am trying to load the content of a view into the dedicated div.

1 . The first time I click on a pjax-enabled link I get redirected to the full page. 2. Going back and clicking the link again it makes the request properly (Status code: 200, url changes, title changes), but the content of the view is not part of the request.
