Provide Eva Design for a software which works also on Windows

Open jsgoupil opened this issue 5 years ago • 12 comments

We are a Windows shop here. .NET, C#, Angular. Providing the design system only for Sketch prevents our company from using your Nebular product. Our designers cannot use any of your design assets.

Any plans to make this work for the Adobe suite?

Thanks @jsgoupil, for the suggestion. Let's keep the issues opened to see the interest.

You can try Figma which is completely web-based and can import Sketch Files. Figma is free for individuals.

@jsgoupil you can try to use https://icons8.com/lunacy to open/edit the Sketch file on Windows. But I agree, another format would be great. I'm thinking Adobe XD because it's free and there are a lot of mention and tutorial about it.

I tried lunacy, figma and XD, but they all has a lot of convert problems. Almost unable to use.

I heard there is an initiative to convert Figma file ongoing already, is this true? Otherwise I would suggest to work on my partial converted Figma to accelerate the progress.

Hi! We're glad to announce Figma support 🎉 Visit our website https://eva.design for details!

Our designers work with Adobe XD. Now that you offer Figma support but you charge for it, we don't feel convinced it will be a good solution in the long term for our team.

$90 over dollar to start collaborating into Eva does not sound promising for the community. Is there any chance you would look into donation basis such as Patreon to support the project instead?

@jsgoupil Eva Design System still free and open source. We develop and support in Sketch first, just because it has more features for now. Our team doesn't really need Figma, but we released it for the community needs. I can suggest you using web tools with a free sketch file to determine whether it can be useful for your team.

@bin4ryio We really appreciate collaborating, but as I mentioned above, we support Sketch first. Feel free to contact us if you have any ideas that can make Eva Design System better: [email protected]

@artyorsh I understand your dilemma here, but our team is a Windows team and we use Angular. We can't ask our team to switch to a new platform for coding nor a new software for designing to match Akveo/Eva requirements. I understand you guys are open source and design for Sketch first, and the argument I gave could as well be applied to your team; but that's the art of creating something open source, you have to match community needs. I have to match my client's needs.

I asked if there were any plans to support Adobe, and your team went ahead and support another software we didn't request. Can we either re-open or create another bug regarding Adobe software?
