Hey, thanks for the PR! I think there is work that needs to be done re Python 3. It's probably time to rewrite some stuff in the library to remove Python 2 specific workarounds (e.g. the unicode dict), and then there is the massive job of looking at the docs... Do you want to do that? I could do it, but my schedule is pretty tight at the moment.

Hi! Yes, I think I can contribute to dropping the Python 2 support. I'll have a look at it in January!

Unfortunately we no longer use mailthon in our project so I won't have time for this.
