Reduce light node disk space requirement

Open agazso opened this issue 3 years ago • 0 comments

Summary

It would be good to reduce the light node (including ultra-light) disk space requirement, preferably no more than 1GB.

Motivation

Currently the advertised light node disk requirement is 32GB. Since these nodes don't store data and most people install it in order to just access files on the network or upload something from time to time, it is hardly justifiable.

Implementation

One naive solution could be just to reduce the default cache-capacity to 250 000. This is one variable that controls the size occupied by Bee data. There may be other variables to be changed as well.

Drawbacks

If I understand the docs correctly the cache-capacity variable also control how much you can upload. This would limit the maximum file size that can be uploaded, which may be unexpected.
