New Category for Introductions

Open bmann opened this issue 7 years ago • 6 comments

Rather than an introductions "topic", have an Introductions category.

This can be part of a more long lived introduction by people.

@pet3r-pan what do you think? Good idea? yea or nea?

What was the original goal of this suggestion? And how did you envision this being used?

Note: I'm using Discourse terminology -- so topic means an original post and threaded responses, and category is ... a category :)

There is a Big introduce yourself topic from March 2018.

Can we make an "Introductions" or "Welcome" or "Know Your Members" or "Wand Holders" category, which is about welcoming new members, teaching them how to get the best out of the forum and FEM as a whole, and in general provide a path from onboarding to happy participation.

So far, very little about Discourse is customized. Did you know there is a "Lounge" that if you end up becoming a "Regular" you get access to? https://ethereum-magicians.org/c/lounge

So -- having an Introductions category was my very small idea. Thanks for prompting me to expand on that here :)

Wand holders category or noobs category. I think this is definitely needed!

Good idea for more content and advice for new users on how to get the most out of the forum and FEM as a whole.

You have achieved rough consensus ;)

Assigning to @jpitts -- can we get an "Introductions" category?
