zoom some part of image by hovering an other component?

It is possible to trigger (simulate) the zoom action by hovering an other component (i.e., a text box) and zoom a section of the image specifying its position?

I would be interested in this as well - in particular for side by side comparison of two images.

I would also be interested in this. My first need is to zoom an image that contains other small clickable images. If I hover the small images the zoom don't occurs.

A solution would also be to allow the small image to be , this way I can make the svg interactive (the svg loaded by the seems to loose every interactivity).
