missing external apps

I'm currently struggling trying to get the basic install to work. Followed the directions on the site but fasttree and statal are recognized as MISSING, but are accessible from the command line (and source to the ete3 environment built in conda)

Attempting to install external apps via conda or source both fail with the following message in conda:

Output in format: Requested package -> Available versions """
