Documentation missing on building with Android Studio

When opening this app in Android Studio Iguana | 2023.2.1 Patch 1, either from the root directory or from the android directory, the Android Studio UI does not function when attempting to run Run. The Build menu is all grayed out.

Filing issue as Documentation is missing on building with Android Studio and I have been unable to get this working on my own.
