Contacts disappeared after changing display name in etesync

Open loyl1 opened this issue 4 years ago • 1 comments

I'm running etesync Android version 2.2.4 on GrapheneOS Build # RQ3A.210705.001.2021.07.26.20 (android 11), and am using both the stock GrapheneOS contact app and Simple Contacts from F-Droid.

Since my initial setup, I decided that my initial naming conventions weren't as clear as I'd like. I changed the display names for contact lists and calendars.

After the changes, my phone doesn't show any etesync contacts. My calendars seem to be working normally. I have manually synced and have rebooted my phone but still can't see etesync contacts. The display name changes did sync to my local calendar apps.

I have 4 contact lists and 7 calendars. I probably should have screenshot the names, but usually display name changes don't effect anything, so I don't think I remember the exact names.

Any ideas to recover my 1200+ contacts?

Thanks,

Tom

It happens on some OS versions (when you change the name) due to the funny way Android works. The easiest way is to remove/readd your account from the app.
