tab bar scrolling

Open marilmanen opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

Is there a way to disable tab bar scrolling and force all tab's to be fitted into current window width? Old NEdit reduces the tab width into two character width (when opening a lot of files) after which it "hides" new tabs to the right. At first I thought that the new tab bar scrolling is a good change, but unfortunately it has caused me so much confusion that I have started to dislike it.

Hmm, there is probably SOME control that can be had over tabbar behavior. I'll look into it.

@marilmanen I wonder what kind of confusion the scrolling has caused. The behavior on classic nedit was more like a shortcoming, rather than a feature. I originally wanted something like what nedit-ng is doing, but Motif wasn't that friendly to hack ;-)

@eteran just a quick though, is it possible to config how many tabs to appear on the tabbar at one time? Maybe that will provide more flexibility and still give what @marilmanen is looking for.

I'll have to investigate the options. There's always a way, it's just a matter of how custom we'll need to go with the widgets.
