Set value to input type tel

Hi, i'm trying to set a value to a input type tel and it place the value but its not formatted, do i have to do something?, i already try setting it as 1111222233334444 and 1111 2222 3333 4444. If i place the cursor on the input and press enter then it gives format. Thanks.
